We indeed traveled to Mumbai, India, with an eclectic and international team of adventurers, which would help us understand the problem. The outcome; four chapters, four short interconnected documentaries featuring the reaction of four captivating international characters. Top models Alena Blohm from Germany , Simon Nessman from Canada, Spanish adventurer Gotzon Mantuliz and French actor Michel Biel – with whom we visited the Dharavi neighborhood (famed globally by the movie Slum Dog Millionaire), the Uttan dump, and the Mumbai coast, to understand how plastic reaches the oceans, in a setting with a fascinating culture and people that will make us learn that there is hope, and that, as with all problems, there are solutions. It’s finally time to cross the Atlantic. All the lights are green, Tiboulen hoists the sails as it leaves the port of Mindelo, sailing alongside three other Jeanneau boats from different generations. ⛵ For most of the crossing, Sail for Tomorrow were on the same tack (port tack at 150° to the wind), with the same sail configuration (wing-on-wing, genoa poled out), and more or less the same speed (5.7 knots on average). The crew experienced some incredible moments during this crossing. Fishing was a highlight, halfway through, they crossed paths with one of the three Jeanneau sailing boats.
