Learning how to make what the locals in Papua New Guinea call picnic—a process similar to what we would call a BBQ—offers insight into essential food preservation techniques. In these remote villages, where access to electricity and refrigeration is limited or non-existent, drying fish and other methods become vital for survival. This picnic technique is just one of the many ingenious ways they preserve food in an environment where resources are scarce. Eco-friendly research vessel" with zero CO2 emissions and renewable energy, anchored at Osaka North Port. A ship that surveys marine plastic pollution while traveling around the world without using any fossil fuel is anchored at Osaka North Port. The moored "Race for Water" is a ship that has been sailing around the world since 2017, and uses fossil fuels because it uses electric power made from solar cells and hydrogen energy made from seawater. I don't use it. "After producing fresh water from seawater with this machine, it is converted into hydrogen here. This is the first time that this mechanism has been used on a ship in the world," said Saki Kobayashi. It means that we are holding marine plastic pollution surveys and seminars on environmental issues in various areas where we are mooring, and in Osaka we will hold an online seminar using zoom. The "Race for Water" will stay in Osaka until the 3rd of next month, and will continue to travel around the world until October next year. The Race for Water Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of the water and the oceans in particular. Today, seriously under threat from plastic pollution, it is imperative that this essential resource for life is protected. To prevent plastic waste from reaching the waterways and oceans by developing social models and business models that give value to plastic waste and hence encourage its collection.
