Witness the beauty of a sailboat gracefully traversing a tranquil river, set against a backdrop of verdant trees. The J109 Going to Red was locked in a tight tussle with the Melges 24 Supersonic. With the tide pushing the boats into Strangford Lough at over 14 knots over the ground there was only meters between the boats for the first 5 minutes of racing. We will share the last video in this series shortly to give you the result. The Mumm 36 is a great boat to push hard downwind in a breeze. As soon as the wind gets above 15 to 18 knots you could easily get the boat up and planning on a broad reach or run. With the storm cloud blowing in rain and the blue sky shinning in the back ground the whole crew was on edge as the tried to soak deep at speed to make it around the bottom mark without the need for a risky gybe. With the waves almost breaking breaking as the sea way built we were easily touching 12 knots of boats speed as raced toward the bottom mark. This was another Mumm 36 memory for our days racing Go To Red on Strangford lough.
