http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2013/02/torqeedo-deep-blue-makes-award-winning-debut-in-miami/ Torqeedo leaves the 2013 Miami boat show with a NMMA Innovation Award for its Deep Blue electric outboard, which made its North American debut at the event. Deep Blue is a huge leap for the German manufacturer, which has quietly (in every way) been gaining a following in the United States with a line of kicker-size electric propulsion motors up to 4kW (matching the thrust of a 9.9-hp gasoline outboard) that are attractive for use on restricted lakes and for light-duty auxiliary power. The new 60kW (80-hp) Deep Blue is aimed at the commercial market, but the firm is also working with several pleasure-boat builders. The company had the motor rigged on a flats boat and a Zodiac inflatable at Miami.
The Beneteau Gran Turismo 45 features elegant lines, a white deck, and graphite gray accents, with clean lines flowing toward the windows. At the stern, it has a large hydraulic swim platform with foldable V-shaped chocks, perfect for storing a jet ski or tender. Comfortable sun pads are positioned at the rear, protected by a huge amount of sun protection overhead, ideal for relaxation and enjoying the open air. Additionally, the sun pad area opens up to reveal a barbecue with an electric grill and cup holders, while the entire bench and grill lift to uncover an extra storage garage for paddleboards and other water toys. It also includes a shore power cord that can be easily reeled back into the boat for convenient storage. This boat is perfectly sized to fit into any marina or berth, and with its easy maneuverability, the Beneteau Gran Turismo 45 is ideal for social day cruising, offering maximum comfort for enjoying time on the water with friends and family.
