Kaik?ura Island is the seventh largest island in the Hauraki Gulf and in the early 2000's was purchased from private ownership to become a public reserve managed by a Trust. Since then, extensive eradication of pests has been undertaken and natural regeneration of native forest is occurring. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk up to the airfield on Kaik?ura Island.
