J109 Going to Red gliding by GBR 7737 from the IRC 0 fleet during Volvo Cork Week 2024. The crew on the downwind boat was calm as the boats converged, making only a small adjust to ensure they stay clear. Shortly after the close cross it was time to take on the lay line and get after the leaders of the IRC1 race who had got the jump on the redline racing team at the start. Es fehlt das Meeresrauschen, das Schaukeln der Wellen, es fehlt die Sonne und die Einsamkeit des Ozeans. Ja, es fehlt das Strahlen der Palmen in weiter Ferne an Land. Aber eigentlich ist es viel mehr ein „wie will ich sein“ als ein „wo will ich sein“. Denn mitten auf dem Meer sind wir wir selbst.
