A cheap solution for wrapping a low-weight composite wing is to use boat storage heat shrink. This particular wing was designed for an autonomous surface vehicle.

As with most long open ocean passages it’s never a certainty as to when we’ll actually leave. There is currently a very small weather window and it’s looking like we’ll leave Tuesday night (2 days from now). In the mean time, the crew and I are servicing, cleaning, maintaining, organizing, and preparing ourselves and the boat. The plan is to get to Bermuda (3-4 days) and then after a few days sail south to St Martin I’m the Caribbean (5-6 days). Snorkeling with the largest fish/shark in the ocean is a truly mind blowing experience. The giant polka-dotted sharks can measure up to eighteen meters and feed entirely on plankton. All over the world there are different spots where whale sharks congregate in large numbers to feed on the nutrient rich waters. Just off the coast of Cancun in Mexico is one of the largest whale shark congregations sites in the world—where you can literally see hundreds of these gentle giants slowing swimming about on the surface as they siphon up their meal. Since they are right on the surface the best way to approach the sharks is by snorkeling!
