HAVSÖRNEN is a very fine example of Scandinavian design and boat building from Tore Holm at the peak of his powers with the build supervised by him in his family yard. Well maintained by her present owner, including a major winter refit 2016-2017 in her last ownership; she has over the years excelled on the Mediterranean regatta circuit and has also proven herself a very capable cruising yacht. Her seaworthy hull provides good headroom below, and the interior finish is a delight. HAVSÖRNEN is coming back to our list very shortly; we raced her in St Tropez some 5 years ago and she is fun to sail; quick to accelerate and potentially a race winner in the Vintage Class…S&S Yawls watch out!? During this dusk dive at Chesil Cove, UK we found this Mermaid's Pouch, containing a live baby shark/ray moving around. The round black shape is the embryo and you can see the tail of the shark moving around. This was filmed around 7pm and at approximately 10m depth. The pouch containing the young shark is a tough leathery material that has attached itself to this plant life. Shining a light behind the pouch creates a silhouette of the baby shark that can be seen from the other side. There was some surge during the dive, as can be seen by the rocking in the video. This movement was caused by the water conditions, we were very careful not to touch the plant or of course, the Mermaid's Pouch itself. Thanks for watching :)
Safety is key when climbing the mast onboard Linnea! And this is our version 2.0 🤯 Always use two lines in case one will fail! At the beginning we used two running halyards, which meant that the one on deck was controlling two lines at the same time, tightening one and then the other and so on. It worked, but it was a very time consuming solution and it wasn’t very safe either! Doing this instead, the one on deck only have one line to control. The prusik knot is controlled by the person in the mast, who simply just moves it along the static halyard (the one attached to the foot of the mast) while going both up and down. Simple as that! Let us know what you think of this! Do you think this is a good solution or do you have a better one you like to share? How do you do when you climb the mast? Don’t forget to save this video 🫶🏼
At Rustler Yachts we've been working with engine manufacturer Yanmar to produce a robust and efficient charging system for our yachts. This option gives you more power for less charging and means auxiliary charging systems like wind, solar, hydro or diesel generators are needed less. Let Simon, our Head of Engineering talk you through the system we use on our Rustler 42. This time we sail to the hot springs of Loutra on the island of Euboea. The spa was already popular in ancient times. The water is really hot! You can only enjoy it early in the morning, as it's currently 41 degrees in the shade during the day - sweaty! And on we go towards the northern Sporades. North of Euboea we have to cross against the wind. Yes, even our cat can cross! A large school of dolphins accompanied us and swam every turn!!! We experienced this for the first time - crazy!
