Race 2 of the Quoile Yacht Club springs series followed shortly after Race 1, the sun finally burnt of the morning fog to deliver a fantastic afternoon for racing. The two J109's GTR and Jammie Dogger were only meters apart as the lined up for a downwind start out of the head of the Quoile river. Jammie Dogger had windward position on the line but GTR managed to put their kite first while enabled to shoot out from the leeward position, getting to the increasing breeze first which allowed them to stretch out an early lead on the way to Mark 3. Going to Red was setup perfectly on the long beat to Mark 11 with the Jib angle in tight she raced fast and high on the flat water. After winning the second start in a row they did not look back, increasing they lead at every mark to take race 2 of the QYC spring series. The MOD 70 class is born in 2009 with the experience gained in the Orma 60 trimaran class, from an association between 3 passionate entrepreneurs & sailors: Marco Simeoni, Steve Ravussin and Franck David. At the start of the 2008 Vendee Globe race, Steve Ravussin and Franck David, introduced the concept of the Multi One Design project, which was to set a class of offshore identical trimarans, to Marco Simeoni. Northsails was created in 1957 at the hands of Lowell North, a sailor and Olympic yachtsman who felt a special passion for the ocean. Since then, we’ve paid tribute to the sea.
