It was tight racing between the top two boats shortly after the start of the 2026 KYC Regatta. The team on GTR went for the kite early on a tight first reach to jump from third to second before heading down the lough on a square run to number 10. The GTR race team quickly pop out the flattening reef on the first downwind leg of the KYC Regatta as the breeze dropped out. The crew at the mast could not get the sail to drop due to the pressure in the main. A quick centre of the main took the pressure out,allowing us to unclip it before winching the sail up to full highs.
