Alcune imbarcazioni tengono un'ancora di rispetto di questo tipo. [B]. a. galleggiante (Varie) floating anchor Attrezzo che si usa per trattenere l'imbarcazione in "cappa" in caso di mal tempo, calandolo in mare dal lato dal quale spira il vento. E' normalmente costruita con una tela fissata su una armatura di metallo alla quale è attaccata una cima che la collega all'imbarcazione. Tale attrezzo posto in mare trova nell'acqua una resistenza tale da contrastare il movimento di scarroccio generato dal vento. Viene chiamata anche ancora di cappa. [C]. a. a fungo (Varie) mushroom anchor Ancora senza marre adatta ai fondi fangosi. [D]. affondare l'a. (Manovre) to let go the anchor Calare l'ancora per ormeggiare. [E]. appennellare l'a. [N]. a. impigliata / inceppata (Varie) foul, jammed Dicesi quando l'ancora, sul fondo, ha la catena avvolta attorno al ceppo e quindi non riesce a mordere il fondo durante la trazione della catena stessa. andana: (s.f.)
