The aft cabin is one of the biggest spaces on Vela, but we still see so much potential to optimize! Here’s what we’re planning: 🛠️ Extra Storage: We’re building cabinets on each side of the bed and adding shelves inside the hanging lockers—because you can never have too much storage for clothes and gear on a boat. 💡 Desk Transformation: That “make-up table” (seriously, who uses it?) is getting a makeover! We’re turning it into a retractable desk with shelves above—perfect for working or planning our next adventures. 🌬️ Ventilating Cupboard Doors: On our nice-to-have list are ventilating doors for better airflow and to prevent condensation—practical and pretty. 💧 Watermaker Plans: We’re considering fitting the membranes for our watermaker under the bed, making good use of otherwise empty space. This cabin is already cozy, but we can’t wait to make it even more functional for life on board. What do you think of our plans? Any ideas we should consider? Red Sailboat, free sailing Bought second hand in awful condition, restored and put to good use. It came with cotton sails, albeit cut with scissors for reasons unknown (!) Also no boom and no joint to have one. Sails were sewn back, boom was added but somwhow it was too heavy. Leaned too much, cotton caught water and boat capsized. Luckily I found a fiberglass rod from a broken umbrella, and some synthetic fabric for some new sails. This is the first run, tethered
