► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. Rolex TP52 World Championships 2025 Cascais | One of the serendipitous pleasures of travelling in Europe is in coming across some sailing venue or event that was not part of any plan you had. So it was for us when we took a shore excursion in Lisbon, which stopped briefly In Cascais. It was all happening here; a large fleet of Optimists coming ashore at the Club Navale, the Mirpuri Foundation setting up their base for The Mirpuri Foundation Trophy race in early July and a number of TP52s on the hardstand preparing for the Rolex TP52 World Championship, being held from 1st-6th July. Maybe next time we’ll actively plan to come here!
