Instead of antifouling, we polish our prop to keep it clean and efficient. The process? Scrape off barnacles Dissolve calcium buildup with acid Polish with progressively finer compounds for a smooth finish ✨ Finally, we grease the prop, add a fresh zinc anode, and apply a final coat of Brasso before launch! Note, that this depends on the condition of your propeller. If it’s really fouled or previously painted, you might need a more thorough process - like we did last year. Drop us a comment, and we’ll send you the full how-to list! 🪩 Have you tried this method or want to try it out? Then safe it for later 📨 or do you swear by antifouling? Drop your thoughts below! 💭

I am still trying to diagnose the issue with a lack of water running through the engine. I took the cover off the impeller (water pump) just to eliminate that as a cause. It looks fine. So, based on on my gathered intel, I am now assuming that the problem is a blocked intake (thru-hull) under the boat. That means that I need to go for a swim at some point soon. The temperature of the water is now 44 degrees. 🥶 Restoring this old sailboat is continuing my education on marine mechanics. Love it!
