My nervous laugh about shooting the gap is classic! Jim and I have very much learned to sail through trial and error, in fact neither of us had ever been on a sailboat prior to Chuffed. This is a clip from our Husqvarna 308 Automower. The robot mower has sensor wire in the ground that defines his workarea. It has an alarm when taken off the ground. It can be programmed to define the mowing hours. There is no logic in the path it takes, just random straight lines.
