Wandering the laneways of the village of Barangka on Buton Island in Sulawesi, Indonesia, we're overwhelmed by the friendliness of the locals and are even offered Arak, a traditional Indonesian alcoholic drink, particularly popular in Bali. It is typically made from the fermented sap of coconut or palm trees, and can have an alcohol content ranging from 20% to 50%. Pretty close to rocket fuel.
