The 2024 season got off to a great start with the annual Strangford Lough Spring Series hosted by the Quoile Yacht Club. With the switch to the new YTC Handicap there was a good fleet of boats push for the win in both the Spinnaker and non Spinnaker devisions. With the sun shinning and light and shifty breeze at the top end of the lough it was a tricky day for the team on GTR, who ended with a second and 4th to be second overall. It was great to be back on the water after another long winter, looking forward to many more days on the water as the season progresses. The team at Bottom up Boats is more motivated than ever to bring you as much racing content as possible. With over 10,000 members of the Bottom Up Boats Crew we continue to go from strength to strength !!!! Sweats Sound brought to you be NCS...... Track: Arcando & Maazel - To Be Loved (feat. The size, layout, comfort and ergonomics of the cockpit designed by Ted Hood on WILD THING have simply never been better executed. The main cockpit is large and functional, designed for easy egress each side without climbing over coamings. A signature feature of Little Harbors are built-in teak lockers for storage of rope tails and ephemera (handheld VHF, sunscreen, on-watch snacks...) outside of the cockpit as part of teak seat backs with handrails cleverly incorporated. All sail handling functions and electronic functions are located within easy reach of the helmsman, enabling one person to operate the boat FROM THE HELM.
North Sails is changing the narrative on cableless sails, and Helix Luff paired with Load Sharing Technology is our answer to this headsail trend. The critical breakthrough with Helix sails is that redistributed loads allow the headsail to project forward the structure on the front of the sail to achieve headstay tension and luff projection while reducing the load on the boat, mast, and rigging. The engineering emphasis is focused on the innovative, barely visible carbon Helix Luff structure, a 3Di design manipulation which projects the sail forward, punching the luff out in front of the boat.
