Famed journalist and one heck of a great person, BIll Springer joined us for the very first days of sailing the spanking new G4 catamaran in the spring of 2015 around St Maarten. Foiling (or flying) at top speed of 31.9 knots! Joyous times.

Talk about being SHOCKED! My neighbor SURPRISED me with a gift that he got while free diving in front of our home. He saw me firing up the grill for some steak and thought he would go free diving to turn my dinner into a "surf and turf". He walked straight out of the ocean and up to my lanai and proceeded to clean it right there! I have never cooked an octopus before so I asked him how and he gave me some quick tips and then handed it to me. When I put the Octopus into the boiling pot of water it began to move. Then when I put the salt in the water it moved even more. It was trippy! Knowing what I know now, I will certainly try a few things different to help get the meat to be more tender. The first step on the foiling journey for any sailor, windsurfer or kiteboarder who wants to experience foiling, is to take part in a FoilLab delivered at a club, by a qualified club coach. FoilLabs focus on the fundamental skills required to begin foiling and assist participants to understand what is happening with the foil below the surface of the water, and how to control it. A FoilLab is relevant no matter which foiling class a sailor chooses (WindFoil, KiteFoil, SailFoil, or WingFoil). FOIL-LABs are a day long introductory session allowing participants to experience and learn about foiling. FOIL-LABs provide a safe space for sailors to learn and interact with a new type of sailing experience and equip themselves with new knowledge to take on foiling classes. Sailors will learn the fundamentals that drive a hydrofoils performance, as well learn about the body and physical relationships that offer a path to mastery. Mastering the basics gives more options to have more fun, more often. It also allows sailors to chase performance in a range of modern performance sailing classes in a fun and fulfilling way.
