It was tough to control the the remote control yachts in blustery conditions off the pontoon at SLYC during the Saturday morning racing. After a nice rounding and gybe at the top mark a big puff sent this yacht down the mine and into a massive nosedive and round up. With the pressure going from 5 to 15 in seconds it was hard to get the nose away after the wind made it hard to play. The team at bottom up boats love racing of all shapes and sizes, I loved taking this footage and spending a few minutes on the dock talking to some life long sailors who now enjoy racing from the peer long past the days that their sea legs have deserted them. Schön, dass du hier bist! Wir, Emely und Tjark, haben uns den Traum vom eigenen Segelboot erfüllt, eine Maxi84, relativ spontan und ohne das ganz große Geld. Das Boot müssen wir noch umtaufen auf den Namen Meera. Wir nehmen dich mit auf unsere Reise von blutigen Anfängern zu hoffentlich passablen Seglern. Bevor wir uns in die Wellen stürzen können, liegt noch ein Berg an Arbeit vor uns. Umbauten, Änderungen und vor allem der Sportbootführerschein müssen erledigt werden.
