This was a very special encounter with a beautiful eagle ray sifting through the sand for a tasty meal. As bottom feeders, eagle rays hunt for prey on the seafloor. Like stingrays, their mouths are on the underside of their bodies. However, they also have a protruding snout full of electro-sensory pores that work as a kind of food radar. Eagle rays are carnivores with specialized flat teeth designed for grinding and crushing crustaceans and molluscs. However, they aren't fussy eaters and will also chow down on worms, small fish and even octopuses. The BGM75, from BlueGame, is a new luxury motor yacht from the Italian manufacturer. M stands for multihull, but this is a catamaran with a difference: the ratio between beam and length is closer to a monohull. ▫️ ➡️ Renders from Blue Game Yachts ▫️ She is first and foremost a luxurious, motor yacht that has two hulls, not one, but from some angles you wouldn't realise. This has allowed the designers to configure the area between the two hulls as a single space like a monohull allowing for a huge full beam owner’s cabin. ▫️ From the stern, she looks like an elegant and balanced monohull and the space between the two hulls conceals a garage for the tender. The reduced beam allows the BGM75 to be moored up between monohulls. ▫️ They estimate between a 23 and 38% fuel saving compared to a 90ft displacement power monohull with comparable living space. ▫️ BlueGame will be exhibiting at the Cannes Yachting Festival. ▫?? We fit two Renogy solar panels to the guard wires on our Hanse 411. This means they are side mounted. It's easy to do with fairly simple tools. this will add 200W of solar to our boat. We chose monocrystaline rigid panels as these have a high efficiency rating. They also come with waterproof connectors making them easy to wire in. #renogysolarpenals #sidemounted #sailingboat

The fifth unit of the celebrated SW96 smart custom project is now underway at the South African shipyard. The bulkheads are finally set in place: they are full carbon infused epoxy structures with a corecell core thus weighting less than 1tons, so they can offer high sound insulation levels with no compromise on stiffness, performance, and volume. Confirming the shipyard’s ability to realize an owner’s wishes, Southern Wind is set to deliver yet another carbon fibre performance yacht. Much more is to come: stay tuned!
