► Our Sydney-based correspondent Kevin Green had the opportunity to sail aboard the Cure 55 following its world premiere at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. No sooner had he stepped ashore than our tester gave us his first impressions: “I’ve just tested the Cure 55. This is without doubt the most impressive performance cruiser I have sailed in years (and that’s not just because it’s Australian!) Fast, lightweight and quite maneuverable, this catamaran really has a lot to offer for 3.5 million Australian dollars.” In fact, the Cure 55 #1, which is the Performance version, is a sharp all-carbon catamaran that makes the most of its one-piece structure to keep its displacement down to just over 9 tons. The hulls are angled at 2.5° like the old Catanas, with very fine entry, slightly inverted bows, and daggerboards. The Hall Spars rig is obviously also in carbon, as is the Park Avenue boom that sits flush with the coachroof. The result? The Cure 55 reaches 20 knots with disconcerting ease... ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Cure Marine Overall length: 58’4” (17.78 m) Beam: 28’6” (8.69 m) Draft: 4’3”/7’11” (1.3/2.41 m) Light displacement: 20,950 lbs (9.5 t) Mainsail: 1,173 sq ft (109 m²) Self-tacking jib: 592 sq ft (55 m²) Gennaker: 2,110 sq ft (196 m²) Water: 211 US gal (800 l) Fuel: 211 US gal (800 l) Engines: 2 x 57 HP www.curemarine.com.au ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Yet another poor quality video of the homemade pneumatic cannon made out of a cheap air pump for using the own piston as it works like a one way valve. Thus, you don't need to leave a small clearance for air to leak and load the main chamber. The piston let's the air flow into it, but on the shooting phase it blocks it. It's the same that happens when you pull the handle of the airpump (air enters the cylinder) and then you push it (air is NOT released, but compressed). The target in this video is the back plate of a pringles can. At 3,5-4 atm as seen here it pierces it. At 6 it goes through. At 7,5 the rear cap explodes XD And no... I'm not in undies. It's a swimming pant (summer in Spain!!) XD So please focus on the ballistics and keep YOUR mating rituals for your friends and beloved ones. Another funny fact. The rear cap explossion propelled the main body against a furniture and the aluminum cannon BENT. So poor accuracy now, but back before the accident it was kinda good...like let's say hit an apple at 15 meters (yeah, I know but I didn't want to put my eye or face close to the gun, so it surely would have been better. To the naked eye, the BB looked like flying pretty straight) Thks4watching All likes reserved
