The first step on the foiling journey for any sailor, windsurfer or kiteboarder who wants to experience foiling, is to take part in a FoilLab delivered at a club, by a qualified club coach. FoilLabs focus on the fundamental skills required to begin foiling and assist participants to understand what is happening with the foil below the surface of the water, and how to control it. A FoilLab is relevant no matter which foiling class a sailor chooses (WindFoil, KiteFoil, SailFoil, or WingFoil). FOIL-LABs are a day long introductory session allowing participants to experience and learn about foiling. FOIL-LABs provide a safe space for sailors to learn and interact with a new type of sailing experience and equip themselves with new knowledge to take on foiling classes. Sailors will learn the fundamentals that drive a hydrofoils performance, as well learn about the body and physical relationships that offer a path to mastery. Mastering the basics gives more options to have more fun, more often. It also allows sailors to chase performance in a range of modern performance sailing classes in a fun and fulfilling way.
St. Moritz: Nowhere else in the world a regatta is held at over 1,800 m above sea evel. Nowhere else you can get as close to the action on the water as here. And nowhere else there has been written more sports history than in this magnificent place. The rankings are really close for now so stay tuned for the next two days. Check the leaderboard on scl2019-final.sapsailing.com. #WorldsBest #BattleForYourBurgee (The use of drone footage was made possible by the approval of Engadin Airport.)
In this video I show how to tie the bowline knot. We use the bowline knot to form a loop at the end of a line that does not contract. This is needed for example to fix a line at a mooring post or to attach the halyard on the head of a sail.
