It would be wonderful to win, so please cast your vote here: https://awards.classicboat.co.uk/restoration-of-the-year-under-40ft/ Our friends over at Berthon Boat Company have been nominated for the Classic Boat Awards, in the category ‘Restored sailing vessel under 40ft' for the extensive restoration of Brynhilde, a 1958 Fred Parker 10-metre wooden Bermudian sloop. https://www.youtube.com/c/BerthonBoats This is a testament to the extensive refit, expertly performed by Berthon’s highly skilled team. Well done to all who were involved in returning this beautiful classic sailing yacht to its former glory. The following series captures the extensive restoration of Brynhilde, a 1958 Fred Parker 10-metre wooden Bermudian sloop, who arrived here at Berthon on the 4th October 2019. She has been in her present family’s ownership for the past 40 years, competing in the Hill Robinson sponsored regattas in the south of France for over a decade, and most recently sailed at the 2021 Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe. Arriving for a deck replacement but undergoing broad further works, Brynhilde is a beautiful example of a timeless yacht refitted to an incredibly high standard. Traditional skills were used throughout this project. A talented team of Shipwrights, Engineers, Electricians, Riggers and Painters led by Dave Bolwell, more fondly known as Curly, dedicated thousands of hours to the careful refurbishment of a well-loved family yacht. - Restoration Playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLebSOrLsZM0Rr8Ca3NsnONk6tSqyUxQHt - Project Overview https://youtu.be/PKEd8WPQMj8 PART 1 - Arrival & Inspection https://youtu.be/zuZ-W80fBIk PART 2 - Exterior Restoration https://youtu.be/tw2LO662mB4 PART 3 - New Deck https://youtu.be/hh1IVTRsHDg PART 4 - Interior Restoration https://youtu.be/iiB8_5Q-X_w PART 5 - Paint and Finishing Touches https://youtu.be/g6pXaG6g43k PART 6 - Launch & Stepping her mast https://youtu.be/4eNyqHMY8ds PART 7 - Sea Trials https://youtu.be/Xod0o1YF7vU - Deck Teaser https://youtu.be/heYt0sNAkxg Paint Teaser https://youtu.be/qE12_zIOiE0 Launch Teaser https://youtu.be/tVSXG7igTIU Mast Stepping Teaser https://youtu.be/VmaCrYZ5nkE Sea Trials Teaser https://youtu.be/Ic7Qlh_cRn4 #YachtRestoration #YachtRefit #ClassicYacht #WoodenYacht #BoatRestoration #MarineEngineering #TeakDeck #YachtPaint #Woodwork #ClassicBoat #BoatBuilding #Shipwright #Lymington #Sailing #Berthon
July is Sun Safe Boating Month, serving as a reminder to protect skin and eyes from the sun while boating. Consider keeping spare sunblock, sunglasses, and hats aboard your BENETEAU to ensure you can enjoy sun and surf for years to come. Learn more at http://sunsafeboating.com. -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 140 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. ► Full test in Multihulls World N°196. The smallest model in the HH range manages to reconcile a very “performance” vision of cruising (all-carbon construction, a sleek sail plan with a 62’ / 19 m mast, and deep daggerboards in the SC version) with a hybrid propulsion system. The HH44, with its 3.2 kWp of solar panels, 50.4 kWh of Lithium-Ion batteries and two 10 kW electric motors, is capable of covering 18 nautical miles at 7.5 knots in full electric mode. The catamaran will be equipped with a very efficient hydro-generation system for charging while under sail. Diesel engines give total safety by doubling the means of propulsion. At anchor or in port, the transoms fold down on each side to create bathing platforms. This model also comes in an Ocean Cruising version with classic fiberglass construction, aluminum mast, and skeg keels. ► Builder: Hudson Yacht Group Architect: Hudson Yacht & Marine Ltd.
