We even witnessed a procession passing by our catamaran in the harbor of Santurtzi. The saint of this city near Bilbao is Carmen and during the âFestival El Carmenâ Her Statue is carried from the church to the harbor. She is placed on a rowing boat, then the boat goes to the sea, seamen throw flowers in the sea and then returning again with the statue back to the harbor while the music is playing out of the harbor speakers. Impressive to watch this ceremony.

Originally designed to blast around the world non-stop and solo every fours years, the IMOCA scene and its racing calendar has exploded to the point that there is almost too much choice for teams. But this year something else was bubbling beneath. New designs for the next VendÊe cycle are starting to appear and along with them, new names on the leaderboard.
