We have been struggling to sort out the battery power for the electric motor as part of our fully electric boat refit. Except for diesel heating for a British winter, we are going to be Fossil Fuel free. These Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries from Fogstar are the game changer for us. They are the Drift PRO 24V 280Ah LiFePO4 Leisure Battery (Gen2), a new product release that gives us 24Volt, 285Ah and able to deliver 300A. With four of them, we can provide our electric motor with the 48V and 600A it needs. The wind disappeared. Which means… I’m now on full-time steering duty. The next 48 hours will basically be me glued to the helm, trying to keep us moving in the right direction all the way to Sint Maarten. Not exactly the most exciting part of the crossing. Just slow progress, small adjustments, and a lot of time behind the wheel. I’m also so tired at this point that I’ve started mixing the days together… I was fully convinced today was day 32. It’s day 33. That’s where we’re at 😅 Anyway, this is probably what the end of the crossing will look like.
