LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT 🔔 Watch next: IT"S THE END! The last time we will see our catamaran in Dubai. The Portofino Shipyard in Dubai is closing! Friends we have made over thew past 4 years are now going to be seen much less often.... Our Portofino 52 catamaran will be shipped to Italy for the mast and launching and Portofino is moving to Fujairah. We are priviledged to be invited to the ceremony of the 10 Year Lease signing - with lots of pomp and ceremony. So we travel the 1 hour to Fugairah and can't believe our eyes - even before th contact is signed, work on the buildings and offices are already being built and quite far advanced... We are also invited to take part in a yacht race on Matrix, a carbon performance monohull - and this is serious stuff! Wile no money, lots of pride is at stake so see how we go. And EMARRASSINGLY, Eli gets trapped between the jib and stanchions in a tack and has to be pulled out by others.... Well, she is a catamaran sailor and not used to these lean over things!!!! Also exciting news about our upcoming episodes about how you can live aboard yachts for only $50K with outgoings of 1/4 -1/3 of normal seagoing prices - watch through to the end to find out how! 👣 About Us We’re the Barefoot Doctors — medical doctors and lifelong sailors living full-time aboard a performance expedition catamaran. The phonetic alphabet is used to spell out parts of a message or call sign that are critical or otherwise hard to recognize during voice communication. The phonetic alphabet assigns code words to the letters of the English alphabet so that code words can be pronounced and understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages regardless of their native language. As a result, it is quite important for maritime communications that the phonetic alphabet be memorized. The phonetic alphabet is a part of ICS (International Code of Signals) and SMCP (Standard Marine Communication Phrases).
Nathanael G. Herreshoff’s Universal Rule addressed concerns raised by the trend in extreme and impractical designs engendered by the previous Seawanhaka Rule. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/790/FALCON The Q-Class, exemplars of the Universal Rule, amply revealed their designers’ pedigrees - among the best of the period - and were typically very well built, proving moreover to be fast, firm – and very beautiful. FALCON, Q-16 (ex JOUR DE FÊTE, ex HAYDAY, ex FALCON II, ex FALCON [II]) owes her origins to the Roaring Twenties Q-Class swansong at Marblehead, Massachusetts, and was a famous double Chicago-Mackinac Race winner of the 1940s. FALCON, Q16 was meticulously restored by John Anderson and Konrad Ulbrich in Maine, and in current ownership has won many of Europe’s classics including the 2025 CIM Trophy Overall. Perhaps most importantly, she has rewarded her crews with the exhilarating sailing for which the Q-Class is rightly famed.
