► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. hello! It has been a rough few weeks onboard with working through all of the possible routes and weather windows to sail through the Bahamas during what is supposed to be a very active hurricane season. We would have been rushing through and that just seemed silly. So, we’ve come to the difficult decision that it safest for us to sail north until early fall before making our way back south. The Mediterranean yachting season continued in style with Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. See the Rolex film trailer for this week-long nautical festival, which annually gathers some 4,000 sailors for intense racing along the Côte d’Azur. Among the 300-plus modern, classic and Wally yachts competing in the 20th edition was the 110-year-old classic Viola, a gaff cutter of rare beauty awarded this year’s Rolex Trophy after winning the Fife Jubilee event.
