Ben, Tambi, and Molly are a family of 3 that sail the Bahamas aboard their Endeavour 32 sailboat. It hasn't always been that way though... far from it. Before they became sailors, they were living the traditional American life. 9-5 jobs, 2 nice cars, a hefty mortgage - and 1 out of every 52 weeks... there was a vacation. Things changed though, when Ben had the realization that every day felt exactly like the previous one. It was just like that movie "Groundhog Day"... Wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, watch TV, go to sleep, repeat, repeat, repeat. Time to shake things up! The Clardy family always did enjoy their temporary getaways to the islands when they would go on cruises. They loved the tropical climate, the clear water, the white sand, the palm trees. They wanted more of THAT, but how? A sailboat, THAT’S how! It was that idea that spurred this family to break out of their rut and go on a grand adventure to tropical destinations over the horizon. Do they know anything about sailing? ...nope. Did they inherit a boat load of money? ...definitely not. Minor details, BECAUSE... So far they’ve sold everything, moved out of their house, purchased a 38 year old sailboat, toured 1000 miles of Intracoastal Waterway, and experienced an unforgettable 6 month sailing adventure through the islands of the Bahamas. So, what’s next for this intrepid trio? Whatever happens - the cameras will be rolling and their salty adventures will be recorded so that you can share the experience as their Story unfolds. Men det som verkligen skiljer sig går inte att mäta i timmar eller kilometer i timmen. Skillnaden i tid är lätt att förstå. Vi flyger över Atlanten på 8 timmar i ungefär 900 km/h. När vi seglade tog det drygt 500 timmar i ungefär 15 km/h. Siffror är enkla. Men mycket av det som verkligen skiljer resorna åt går inte lika lätt att beskriva. När man seglar infinner sig ett lugn och tempot sänks. Man går ner i varv och fokuserar på det mest grundläggande: äta, sova och segla. Att transportera sig långsamt är faktiskt ganska härligt. Det finns gott om tid för reflektion. Och reflektera hinner man. Vad händer egentligen i huvudet när man i 500 timmar bara ser öppet hav, 360 grader runt omkring sig? För mig hände en hel del. Flygresan var såklart smidig. Och barnen tyckte det var en upplevelse. "Världens bästa dag!" sa Nils när han hittade en Star Wars-film på skärmen i flygstolen. Och Oscar var minst lika nöjd med frukosten: varm choklad, chokladkaka och macka med mangomarmelad 😅 Vad vi föräldrar tycker om skärm och socker kan vi ta en annan dag… men jag kan avslöja att det inte är våra två favoriter 😅 Barnen som är vana vid att segla tyckte det var spännande att flyga. Jag tyckte mest det var smidigt. Men upplevelsen att ta sig över Atlanten den får seglingen stå för. 💙⛵️ Hur hade du helst korsat Atlanten? 8 timmar i ett flygplan eller 500 timmar på en segelbåt?
