On Saturday 1st February, Comanche Raider III crew members Ramon Sant Hill, Daniel Bartolo and Mark Muscat joined the Serious Fun crew. Owned by Jan Versteeg and Sally Jackson, this was this boat’s first foray in the Club’s event. Joining there were Kurt Camilleri and Paul Masters who all found this cruise to be an excellent opportunity to get into the RMYC Sailing scene and are looking forward to the next event. How a group of 14 to 20 charters the BVI together: https://mybvicharter.com/bvi-tandem-charters-the-best-way-for-big-groups-to-charter-together/ Most crewed yachts are legally capped at 12 guests. That is not a Caribbean rule, it is international maritime law, and it is the wall most big groups hit before they have even picked a week. It does not mean the group has to split up or shrink the guest list. It means we send two boats. A tandem charter is two yachts on the same itinerary with separate crews: you anchor in the same bays, snorkel together, meet up at the beach bars and eat ashore together, and the days are coordinated so it still feels like one trip. What makes it work is the pairing. Same or similar size and layout, so nobody feels they drew the short straw, and crews who are used to working together rather than competing. One honest limit: you will not be swapping between yachts while under way, or sharing water toys between them. Insurance does not allow it.
