We are very excited to reveal our big project. San Diego’s first fully electric charter sailboat! ⛵️🔋 In this most recent refit of our Catalina 400, Bree Zen, we replaced the old Westerbeke diesel engine with a state-of-the-art electric motor. By replacing a diesel engine with an electric one, motoring in and out of the harbor is now a completely smooth and silent process. With no exhaust or diesel fumes, and no pollutants going into the water. 🌊 To support our new electric motor, we’ve integrated four 48-volt lithium batteries from Dakota Lithium. Thanks to Dakota Lithium and Electric Yachts - they’ve helped us take our sailing experiences to a whole new level! ⚡️⚡️ Our transition from diesel to electric power is part of our ongoing efforts to explore new innovations and products, and offer even more eco-friendly sailing experiences. One of the most intimidating things for sailors and boaters pulling into Fort Lauderdale for the first time is dealing with the network of opening bridges on the Intracoastal Waterway. In Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding areas on the ICW the bridges open on a schedule with a request over the VHF radio. They monitor channel 9, and open every thirty minutes upon request.
