From the award-winning and world-renowned shipyard, Abeking & Rasmussen, comes the stunning 42.83m ketch sailing yacht, ASGARD. Built in 1993, she has undergone a couple of refits, most notably in 2014 and 2020. The 2014 refit included a completely new beautiful teak deck, major upgrades to the navcom and electrical systems along with a stunning facelift of the interior by illustrious designer, Rhoades Young. The 2020 refit focused on a complete overhaul of the thursters, the main engine, both generators and the gearbox. ASGARD has a strong cold-moulded mahogany hull that has been built to withstand a whole lifetime. Lighter than fibreglass and cheaper than carbon hull constructions, the cold moulding technique relies heavily on epoxy resin to sheath the entire structure to keep the water out. This unique construction gives this ketch an eye-catching design and an incredible performance, combined with a classic appearance. ASGARD is bound to impress with friends and family alike. Complemented by her classic lines with a modern rigg, she is a proven world explorer with incredible sailing performance. Having won the Superyacht Cup and the Spirit of Tradition Class of the Rolex Maxi Worlds, ASGARD is considered a pedigree superyacht. ASGARD’s achievements are also notable considering the involvement of award-winning designers for both her exterior and interior. The acclaimed designer Bruce King worked with the owner in order to develop and build a ship that could cruise the world but also wow at Regattas—a feat complete considering the corners of the world she has visited from Alaska to the South Pacific and New Zealand, along with the races she has won. This doesn’t detract however from the opulence and comfort of the interior designed by Andrew Winch and Rhoades Young. With a classic look interior, impressive and stylish furnishings polished perfectly with Mahogany wood detailing and flooring throughout, ASGARD can accommodate up to ten guests across five pleasant cabins. The Master Cabin is quite the comfort statement, considering it is full beam, and has an ensuite along with a private seating area. Exclusively for sale with C&N. ► Article in Special Issue N°24 Forever Green: https://www.multihulls-world.com/articles-catamaran-trimaran/refit-the-new-eldorado-for-recreational-boating ► The first catamaran from the Neo program, a completely refurbished Lagoon 620, was presented to us in Palma de Mallorca. Hull #29, dating from 2012, has spent 4 months at the Monfalcone yard in Italy undergoing a full refit carried out by the builders themselves: structural and mast inspection, bulkhead rework, replacement of engines, sails, electrics, plumbing, electronics, headlinings, upholstery, etc. Nothing escaped the Lagoon experts! What’s more, the catamaran, repainted in Star & Stipes blue, is now equipped with solar panels, a lithium battery bank, low-energy air conditioning and a wastewater treatment system. The cost of this more than complete refit (there are four levels of packs) is in the order of € 800K for a unit that trades on the second-hand market for amounts from € 1.3M. This brings the total to € 2.1M, which compares with the cost of a new, fully-loaded Lagoon 60 at around € 3.2M. A substantial difference that could well attract players in the luxury charter market. For the time being, the Neo program is open to the 170 Lagoon 620s and 50 Lagoon 630 MYs built, though other models will soon be added to the program. ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! Paul Exner who leads who runs the Modern Geographic Sailing Academy takes students step-by-step to go anywhere by sail. He teaches sailors the skills they need to sail in the ocean with confidence. This video shows him on a heavy air passage across Hawaii’s Alenuihaha Channel between Maui and Big Island in heavy weather aboard his Cape George Cutter 31, SOLSTICE. He has sailed hard for 40 years before he'd been in conditions that required a storm trysail and storm headsails. His students on this expedition had signed up for sailing in storm sailing conditions. Paul writes, “Bluewater sailing is a ‘practice’ — the same as any professional discipline like law, medicine, engineering, or business … you must practice your ‘art’ under the circumstances you’d expect in the real-world. Before a sailor can grow, they must surround themselves with bluewater conditions to establish a base-line from which mastery grows. “During the MOD GEO expedition you’ll grow as a sailor through hands-on practice on routes that you plan, influenced by weather forecasts you interpret — while you manage an ocean-ready sailing vessel to encounter a complete range of offshore and coastal conditions thrown at you in real time. You’ll learn proven seamanship methods and actionable-info to accelerate the pace and confidence by which you reach your sailing dream.” Paul’s not kidding you with these firm statements — many sailors have learned from Paul Exner how to complete their own Earth circumnavigation, sail multi-year voyages aboard their own boat — OR, become a trusted professional in the marine industry. Paul is a very experienced sailor and he knows how to teach seamanship. He also knows that an ocean-going boat needs dependable equipment. That is why his boat is powered by UK Sailmakers’ bluewater standard dacron cruising sails. In fact, he is just replacing his 18-year-old genoa. That’s a lot of years, especially when most of those miles were done on the ocean.
