We worked with Outremer in France (with the help of Google Translate) to launch our boat project and start our journey as sailing vagabonds. While it’s not a race or speed test, we are doing our first Bluewater crossing this year and we are excited to see AWEN stretch her legs and dance on the water. This week we skipped our weekly video as we have been busy with home renovations and simply lack of sailing. However, we never miss an opportunity to embrace natures beauty, this time in the form of a common dolphin family swimming by our anchorage. Two of the four adults had younglings with them, who they seem to be teaching. Pretty cool to spot them by your front door ! Nature is awesome and nature needs us as much as we need it ! Perhaps modern technology will and already is able to show us the incredible similarities we all share, the complex social behaviours and interactions, the meaning of family and so much more :) Ps. As SANDPIPER in long initial ownership by Santa Barbara Yacht Club's Dean Brown, she was a well known and successful participant in some of the classic West Coast USA offshore races. Subsequently she has cruised the Pacific seaboard in the hands of only two owners who, not surprisingly, fell in love with this very attractive, responsive and sure-footed yacht. Modern sail handling systems allow her to be easily sailed single or short handed while bow and stern thrusters allow neat berthing feats. Although very much in commission, ROSE WILDER does require attention to elements of her structure commensurate with her age - reflected in a very reasonable asking price for a very striking 50-footer with superb provenance.
