In this episode we sail, we motor sail and we get stuck with our anchor wrapped up in an old net in the harbour at Tanjung Siwa. Don’t worry, we’ll show you a very quick and easy way to untangle a fouled anchor. After sailing in Greece we have plenty of experience. Then we motor sail again and, finally, we reach our northern destination of Palopo. We’re sailing with friends Daniel and Emma on our buddy boat Lola B in an area of the huge Indonesian Island of Sulawesi very rarely visited by cruising boats. Part of our 2 week vacation in the waters of British Columbia - we made our way to Desolation Sound. The farthest north we ventured was to the Octopus Islands, anchoring there for a night. The trip in was beautiful passing through The Whole in the Wall passage at slack tide. The hike trailhead was a quick dinghy ride away to Waiatt Bay. The trail to Newton Lake took us about an hour to get up to the top with a few scrambles on the way up. Everything was well maintained and the DIY nature of the signs was picture perfect - they were a big help. The lake water was warm and clear. We got there in the late afternoon so the sun was hitting just right. This was the highlight of the trip for the kids - until we arrived at Prideaux Haven the next day!
