I wanted to show you exactly how a boat anchor behaves on the sea floor. I found a nice popular anchorage where the tide had gone out, exposing the same sandy bottom that the boats in the distance are anchoring in, so we can see exactly what is going on, without the sea being in the way. If you measure the distance from the bow roller to the seabed at high tide, and pay out at least five times that much chain, which is known as 5:1 scope, the anchor should untangle itself and reset in most situations. The last two weeks have been a busy time for the new crew of Red Rocket. With a brave heart nothing impossible, they will have responded favourably to the call of the sea, and organized their life so far sedentary for a jump into the unknown. Who has never dreamed of swapping their existence for an unpredictable, sunny and salty adventure? Few of us have had a chance to put their daily lives in the wings, and turn their dream of family pilgrimage into reality. Our farmers in the Loire Atlantique will have managed to overcome all the difficulties inherent in a hasty departure for one year. The farm is in good hands for one year, Children already doing their homework on the square table of Red Rocket and the explorations in the Canaries can begin serenely. Before the first ambitious navigations, a technical tour of Red Rocket was necessary to discover its systems, its sails, the inventory and refuelling present on board, and of course the different communication systems that will connect them to land. Red Rocket can continue her journey serenely, in good hands!
