Sunshine and a steady 8 knots to 10 knots of breeze breeze greeted the competitors for the annual Bar Bouy race out of the Strangford Lough narrows and back again GTR worked to leeward of it main competitors before breaking out into the stronger current with around 20 seconds to go. After going putting a couple of boats on port under pressure the rounded up to hit the line with speed in addition to being in the strongest current. At the westcoast of Portugal, about 50 km below Porto, you'll find the charming city of Aviero. On it's canals, the moliceiro boats sail. They look stylish and elegant like a gondola. In the past, this type of boat was used to collect seaweed in the lagoon. With a kind of rakes that are attached to the boat, the weed could be removed from the shallow bottom. It was then used as fertilizer in agriculture. Now these Portuguese boats are now used for tourist boat trips. It was a pleasure to see them pass by, with happy tourists in it. The canals have colorful bridges and I made a video of a violinist standing next to the bridge, as the moliceiro boats pass by.
