Day 13. My last day at sea. I saw land in the morning, but it still took until sunset to finally arrive. Funny how that works. After nearly two weeks looking at nothing but ocean, land suddenly feels both incredibly close and impossibly far away. Today felt like the end of one adventure and the beginning of another. The crossing is done. The lessons have been learned. The boat has been tested. And now the focus shifts completely. From here, it’s all about preparing Showgirl. Finishing the projects, solving the problems, and getting everything ready for what comes next. Because this crossing was never really the goal. It was one more step toward the bigger dream. J109 "CTRL J" beating up the shore to stay out of the tide shortly after the start of the Harbour Race of Cork Week 2024. With over 100 boats on the start line everyone was fighting for air shortly after the start, with the tide coming in all day it paid to get right early to find both clear air and some relief from the stronger tide out in the main channel.
