A huge whale and going where the wind takes us for a fantastic two day sail! With the forecast winds we were going to be close hauled and knew we might be pushed off course and end up sailing straight on past to Majorca or even end up in Barcelona - but we didn’t mind. A friend took a quick video of my electric bike. I'd already ridden 25km that day so the battery was about half full. When full it'll wheelie on full throttle and I'd have to be careful not to flip it! I hit 58km/h in the video here, but had to stop accelerating as I was running out of road! The motor I used was designed for torque. 120nM of torque in my setup. Top speed: 65km/h on a flat road, 55km/h uphill (any hill!) Range: 50km Cost to recharge: $0.09!

Giorno 30 - TIRRENO Molliamo gli ormeggi dopo una pausa che ci è sembrata infinita. Evviva! Le previsioni danno un metro abbondante di onda, ma il maltempo è passato e noi siamo impazienti di riprendere il viaggio. La gioia della partenza lascia ben presto spazio a una prima esperienza per niente gradita. Il mal di mare è un ospite davvero fastidioso. Esigente e prepotente. Poco importa se hai dei lavori da svolgere o delle scadenze da rispettare. Se lui è presente pretende tutta la scena per sé. E così è stato oggi per circa 4 ore. Soltanto dopo le 19 è stato possibile mettere qualcosa sotto i denti. I piani per i prossimi giorni sono di recuperare tutte le miglia mancate in questo periodo.
