Here is the port helm station on our boat. The removable helm window allows you to see completely through the boat when removed as well as have access to our chart plotter. In heavy weather or rain we keep the helm window in place but can still see the chart plotter through it and access it easily around the corner through the doorway. Having @bandgsailing electronics onboard have been a game changer for us compared to our minimal electronics on Adrenaline. Being able to see our true and apparent wind data and even set the autopilot to steer to the wind angle rather than a compass heading has made our sailing way more efficient. All our control lines our led to the cockpit as well so there really is not much reason to have to leave the cockpit in rough conditions. Out approach to the nav buoys and the St. Marys inlet with Cumberland island (famous for the wild horses on island) after our 1474 mile passage from Antigua--most of the last 31 hours were in a Storm with winds at 40 knots, 4-6 meter seas and we blew out the mainsail just after dawn this day. We were happy to see the inlet. This was the first trip to the U.S. for Sloan (Antiguan) [ Antigua to St. Thomas to St.Marys Georgia, USA passage short reels ]

In this diving video we get to meet up eye to giant eye with a squid. Did you know squid have the largest eye to body ratio in the entire animal kingdom! In fact, the Giant Squid (cousin to this Caribbean Reef Squid) has the largest eyes on the entire planet at a minimum of 10 in / 25 cm in diameter. Even the Blue Whale does not compare at 11 cm. What’s strange is small eyes can actually see dramatically further so why the enormous eyes? Large eyes are thought to be better at seeing large objects that give off their own light in deep water. So who might the squid be looking for? Well he doesn’t glow but his movements trigger creatures that do and he loves feasting on Squid, The Sperm Whale!
