En plein alizé brésilien, François Gabart profite du soleil avant d'atteindre l'équateur et le pot au noir, puis de continuer sa remontée de l'Atlantique jusqu'aux Sables d'Olonne. Le Vendée Globe 2012 est la course autour du monde en solitaire sans escale et sans assistance qui passe par les trois caps, le Cap de Bonne Espérance, le Cap Leeuwin et le Cap Horn. Le départ de la course est donné des Sables d'Olonne tous les quatre ans. Les éditions précédentes ont été remportées par Titouan Lamazou, Alain Gautier, Christophe Auguin, Michel Desjoyeaux et Vincent Riou. It's a slight different race today with the ORCV fleet offered to consider pledging to support the Good Friday Appeal with their first sked tonight. Volunteer Race Director Ray Shaw runs the fleet through the starting protocols including exclusion zones, shipping to be mindful of, communication channels be observed before doing a final check of crew and confirming they are a starter.
