As we expected during our Winter stay in Turkey, there would be storms. We are currently sailing our way South to see as much of the coast as possible. Stopping at a place called Kakova Road we have found a bay to anchor tight for the next 3 days due to a nasty frontal system making its way around the area. Rain, Thunder storms and winds to 35knts (65km/h) . Life on board can be quite uncomfortable in these conditions with rolling swells rocking the yacht side to side causing endless bangs and crashes of lines and equipment being thrown about not to mention the howling sounds the rigging makes in even moderate winds. This is how I am marking our anchor chain for our sailboat anchor. We have 350 feet of anchor chain. I have laid it out and am marking it, so when we drop our anchor, we know how much we have dropped. I am marking it at every 25'. 25' = 1 Band 50' = 2 Bands 75' = 3 Bands At 100' I change colors and start the process again! We are new sailors on our Sceptre 41 sailboat. Week 4 of the season ending Frosties Regatta at Strangford Lough Yacht once again say some tight racing in the IRC 1 class. The crews were greated with with 8 to 12 knots of breeze from North West which increase to 20 in the rain squalls. The J109 Going To Red and the A35 Le Bascular continued there matching racing series to see who would take the title of Frosties Champion 2023. The team on J109 GTR lead early but were run down on the first run to be just behind the A35 at the leeward mark. A tight rounding on the J109 couple with some issue getting the kite down allowed GTR to snatch the lead back. After stretching out a good lead on the second beat GTR looked to have a comfortable run home until they tangled with Attica and Atalante, the team recovered to lead around the bottom mark. After some debate the team decide it was best to do some turn incase they had infringe before beating up into the oncoming rain squall.
