The Alpine butterfly knot, also known as lineman's loop, butterfly loop, butterfly knot and lineman's rider, is a knot used to form a fixed loop in the middle of a rope. There are multiple ways to tie the Alpine Butterfly knot, in today's video we will teach you the wrap method where we form the knot by creating three loop around you hand to form the base of the knot. It can be tied without access to either end of the rope, this is a distinct advantage when working with long sheets or halyards. The Alpine butterfly knot is an excellent mid-line rigging knot, it handles multi-directional loading well and has a symmetrical shape that makes it easy to inspect. The Alpine Butter fly knot is great for creating temporary purchase systems which can help secure items with additional holding power. Making it great for tying down dinghies, spars, sails or just about anything you can loop your rope around. The Alpine Butterfly knot will tighten on itself making a secure loop or purchase system, it can be easily undo even after heavy load is applied making it a great temporary solution when a loop is needed. The team at bottom up boats hoped you enjoyed this Know Knots shorts video demonstration where we should you how to tie an Alpine Butterfly Knot. If you have a suggestion for other must know knots you would like a short for drop us a comment at the bottom of the video and we will give it a go. #bottomupboats

Would you drive this ultra-lightweight modern classic to a podium finish in an intense international regatta or enjoy its high-speed handling on a fast coastal passage? Rate this yacht from 1–5 stars and comment below! Spirit 52 © Spirit Yachts Length overall: 15.90 m or 52 ft 2 in Length waterline: 11.20 m or 36 ft 8 in Beam: 3.40 m or 11 ft 2 in Draft: 2.20 m or 7 ft 3 in Displacement: 8,800 kg or 19,400 lb Engine: 40 hp Upwind sail area: 92.90 m² or 1,000 sq ft Cabins: 2 Berths: 4-6 persons The Spirit 52 represents a magnificent milestone for the British shipyard, debuting as a highly successful racing monohull designed by founder Sean McMillan to blend a timeless aesthetic with raw competitive performance. The hull is handcrafted using wood-epoxy composites with robust cedar planking overlaid by rich mahogany ringframes and veneers to maximize structural strength while keeping displacement exceptionally low. Optimized with a sleek underwater profile and minimal wet surface area, the platform is built to catch light winds efficiently and can confidently reach a top speed of sixteen knots when pushing hard downwind under an asymmetric spinnaker. The deck arrangement is explicitly engineered for fast short-handed management or precise crew coordination, leaving all essential running rigging led cleanly aft to a secure cockpit layout. Equipped with a high-aspect fractional rig, advanced carbon fiber spars, and nitronic rod rigging, the vessel delivers immense stability and fine-tuned rudder feedback when heavily heeled under a large sail plan. Below deck, the space-efficient arrangement features white bulkheads contrasted by solid wooden joinery to establish a bright, sophisticated coastal manner atmosphere that comfortably accommodates up to six guests across two private en-suite cabins and the main saloon. This custom performance masterpiece provides a premier choice for serious yachtsmen seeking racing pedigree, commanding a market value of 1.5 million US dollars. #Spirit52 #ClassicSailing #WoodenYacht #HarbourMasters
