Regardless if you call it a Chinese Gybe, Death Roll or Uncontrolled Gybe they can happen in a heart beat. One second you are cruising along and the next you are lying flat in the water with little or no ability to do anything about it. This Chinese Gybe was over in an instant, cost us the race, in reflection it taught us a lot about preventing it from happening again and how to recover better if it does happen again. For anyone visiting Corsica, the calanques de Piana are a must-see. Listed by UNESCO, this is one of the most beautiful places in Corsica. The steep red cliffs offer a beautiful landscape and we also had a beautiful view of the mountains from the catamaran at anchor below the town of Piana. Especially when we lifted our drone at the end of the afternoon, the orange colors are even more enhanced by the low sun.
