Here are 3 reasons why we bought a steel boat; 1. They are strong! We want to travel anywhere including choppy seas and transatlantic crossings without worrying about the fragility of our boat. Steel sailboats have a more rigid structure and are robust so they can better withstand grazes, rubs, and bumps when in the open water. 2. They are stable! Though not as light and fast as fiberglass boats, the weight of steel boats make them more steady in choppy waters and that means reduce chances of seasickness. 3. We are going electric! Since we were buying a used boat, we needed to select a structure that could be alter in order install our electric motor and a steel structure is highly adaptable. We have sailed the beautiful bay of Napels with our catamaran. There is so much to see: the city of Napels, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri. And also being in the harbors and looking at the villages build up the hills, make you realize that 2.000 year of history with the Roman Empire lives together with modern society! For example, this is Porto di Baia, our drone flies from our boat in that harbor to the modern city and suddenly you see that above that modern city the remains of an old city is there. The old city that is now excavated, was build on the wall of an ancient Volcanic crater. Also the dome you see later in the video, is the Temple of Diana, the largest best preserved dome chamber after the Pantheon in Rome. It was a thermal complex making use of the hot waters in the ancient volcanic crater, that was build in 300 AC. Amazing that this dome was not discovered until the end of the nineteenth century when metropolitan lines were build and they discovered that beneath the modern city, was this huge thermal complex. At first, the connection with Diana, the goddess of the hunt, was not clear, until they discovered a marble relief depicting a series of animals, and more animals covered the walls and ceilings. Ich erzähle dir, wie wir hier in Kroatien bei Affenhitze trotzdem im Schatten sitzen, mit Wind- und Regenschutz – und wie sich das schon auf unserem Überführungstörn bewährt hat: Im April 2016 sind wir von Kemer im Golf von Antalya hierher gesegelt. Draußen war es für viele noch richtig kalt, uns kamen Bavaria-Segler im Friesennerz entgegen – während wir im T-Shirt im geschützten Center-Cockpit saßen, weil wir alles dichtmachen konnten.
