One of our NSSC Sailability members, Jazz Turner, featured on BBC South East Today lunchtime news on leaving Brighton Marina at the start of her epic Project FEAR ("face everything and rise") journey. She is attempting to become the first female wheelchair user to complete a solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation of the UK and Ireland. Jazz is raising money for the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club (NSSC) Sailability fund. Seacocks are bronze valves in a boat and are used as a safety measure for closing off holes below the water line and keeping water out of the boat for either maintenance or emergencies. We have 4 total on Seawind, and one of them has been giving us trouble for the past couple of years. I cleaned and greased this particular seacock, and ever since, it’s seeped a bit of water into the boat.
