We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard). Hurricane arguably invented the deck boat concept back in 1974 with a craft that placed a wide-open pontoon-style deck over a fiberglass hull. This hybrid offered the planing performance of a runabout with the elbow room of pontoon boats. Most of today's deck boats look more like a runabout, and the SunDeck 2690 is no exception, with its gracefully descending shear line and wrap-around windshield. It's the broad bow, which maximizes space forward, that sets this big deck boat apart from bowriders in this size range.

Here in San Diego, we’re lucky to enjoy year-round sailing, with our crew hitting the water 7 days a week, all 12 months of the year. Southern California’s weather during January, February, and March is hard to beat—lately, we’ve been enjoying sunny days with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. One of the most common questions we hear this time of year is: "Will I get cold on the water?" The truth is, San Diego’s winter weather isn’t all that different from fall or spring.   Captain Dave’s Tip: Bring an extra layer—like a windbreaker or jacket—to stay comfortable during your sail. And don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with cozy blankets, especially when the sun begins to set on our Sunset Sails. Another reason to sail this season? It’s prime wildlife-spotting time!
