See our full review on @YachtingReviews If you haven't heard of the Sirius 35DS, where have you been? The first Sirius 35 DS (DS for deck saloon) was delivered by Sirius Yachts, a boutique German yard, in 2010. We tested the 81st hull and it’s likely no two are the same. There are seven different keel configurations, two-, four- and six-berth layouts, the midships berth can be an office, the technical room - a genius space designed to make maintenance a doddle - has even been converted to a sauna for one owner. The layout can be what you want it to be. What makes Sirius Yachts stand out, however, is the attention to detail: this is clearly a yacht designed and built by people who go cruising a lot and come up with solutions when they find something that annoys them. We could make another video and still not cover everything that stands out about this yacht. Fastidiously and robustly built (cored above the waterline and areas over 40mm of solid laminate below), with the storage of a much larger yacht, this brand makes boats that their owners appreciate as second homes. Fifteen years after first testing it, Chris Beeson is still hugely impressed. Sirius yachts will be exhibiting for the first time at Annapolis Sail Boat Show from 9th-12th October 2025 - We love reviewing yachts for you, but it costs money and pays nothing – for the moment, at least. Discover the Granocean W-60 | Luxury Power Catamaran Yacht Learn more here: https://catamaranguru.com/gran-ocean-power-catamarans/ Working with Stimson Marine, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is employed to study hull variations to arrive at most suitable final form. And is further used for individual load cases in customized layout designs. Howard Apollonio has drawn up outstanding semi-planing hull lines to achieve excellent sea keeping, long range efficency at low speeds and great planing characteristics at high speeds. Welcome to a behind-the-scenes tour at Granocean Shipyards, where craftsmanship and engineering meet in the construction of the W-60 — a 60-foot performance cruising yacht designed with precision, philosophy, and structural integrity. Eric, the lead builder, stays after hours to guide us through the current state of the build. With the hull and deck now jointed, the team has entered a critical phase: installing the main deck sole and lower deck sole — key structural components that unify the vessel. Structural Methodology Spotlight Eric emphasizes the importance of cohesive connectivity between all components. Four continuous bulkheads run transversely from port to starboard, forming the backbone of the boat. These aren’t just structural walls — they are integrated load pathways that connect the hull, deck, cockpit, and bilge into a single high-integrity unit. Every cut, bond, and layout choice reflects a deeply considered philosophy of durability, performance, and system harmony. The W-60 is the product of years of refinement at Granocean, known for custom high-performance catamarans that marry engineering integrity with owner-led customization. The W-series was born from a desire to break with traditional compromise-laden layouts and instead create vessels optimized from the hull up. The W-60 leverages lessons learned from the early W-52s and 62s, while integrating client feedback and performance testing across oceans. Each W-series hull carries forward a philosophy of monocoque strength, minimized vibration, and exacting weight distribution. Whether you're a seasoned sailor, aspiring builder, or simply fascinated by the inner workings of yacht construction, this video offers a detailed, unfiltered look at how expert shipwrights bring a high-performance vessel to life. 🛥️ KEY FEATURES: - 60-foot (17.9m) length with a 28.5 ft beam for unmatched interior space - Open or enclosed flybridge configurations, plus a sports-fisher version - Interior by Vripack – choose from Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Elegant Chique, or Cosmopolitan styles - Twin diesel engines with options up to 715 HP for speeds up to 26 knots - Ocean-capable with CE Certification Category A - Fully customizable layout and finish for discerning owners - Semi-planing flared hulls with high bridge deck clearance for superior seakeeping - Advanced composite construction with carbon reinforcement and structural engineering by Gurit Structural Engineer: Gurit SP Naval Architect: Howard Apollonio Designer: Eric So – Granocean Interior: VRIPACK Overall length: 58.70 feet / 17.90 meters Maximum beam: 28.50 feet / 8.70 meters Draft: 4.00 feet / 1.20 meters Maximum displacement: 30.000 Kg/ 66.140 lbs Engines: 2 x Cummins QSB6.7 380mhp Diesel Engine Fuel: 4,500 Liters/1,320 US gallons Fresh water: 1,000 Liters /264 US gallons Stay tuned for more information about GranOcean and its catamarans.
