Patricia and I decided to buy a sailboat while on vacation in French Polynesia. When we returned we ordered a new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 that we got last April. This channel is about the outfitting and upgrades we are doing to the boat plus some Texas Coast adventures while we learn to handle her.
The Cleat Hitch is a simple but effective way to secure your boat to the dock. Many people will argue that you should not use this method (preferring the OXO method) ad it can lock tight under heavy load. The team at bottom up boats agree to disagree with these critics as we firmly believe that there is a time and a place for everything. The clear hitch is neat and does not take up massive around of room on the cleat. ► Article complet dans Multicoques Mag N°232. ► Notre grand reporter Briec Maisonneuve a trouvé la meilleure façon de se rendre le 22 mai dernier à la journée de présentation de l’usine Yot à Aveiro, au Portugal : il a tout simplement calé le convoyage d’un Neel 43 au départ de Carteret, en Manche, vers Porto, aux bonnes dates ! « Je suis parti en solitaire le 17 mai à 12h et suis arrivé le 21 à 15h… avec seulement un litre de gazole dans le réservoir ! ». Les conditions de cette longue traite de 650 milles autour de la Bretagne et dans le golfe de Gascogne ont été en effet plutôt clémentes avec beaucoup de portant – mais également des calmes. Brieuc a également rencontré des orques qui sont juste restés curieux. Le périple s’est poursuivi vers Portimao et l’objectif final est Venise (mais cette fois notre marin-journaliste naviguera en double).
