⚓ We still shout at each other when we drop anchor and then act like nothing happened afterwards 😆 ⛵ I (Greta) still question if the boat will actually turn back upright when we start heeling 🍜 Sometimes offshore “dinners” are just cup noodles and that is totally fine 🛠️ We have clear job assignments that have not really changed in the last 7 years 🧽 We procrastinate when it comes to scrubbing the hull 🌊 We still have a lot to learn. Sailing is not something you can fully master in a classroom. Some lessons only come from being out there in the elements. Here is to embracing the quirks, the learning curves and the messy bits of life at sea. Jack Roy joined the board of Irish Sailing in 2013 and was President from 2017 to 2020. During this time he led with great talent and dedication, and always with a sense of fun and humour. The extent of his influence and popularity is shown in the tributes received by Irish Sailing from people around the world who worked with him during his presidency. Jack finished his presidency during COVID lockdown when face to face celebrations were restricted, so we marked the occasion by publishing his last speech and a slideshow of his time as Irish Sailing President.
