It might be unexpected glorious January weather, which brings out the sea's beautiful colours but it was a frustrating day for the Masters event at the Royal Malta Yacht Club. Nevertheless Day 2 brings a promise of some exhilarating sailing to make up for the first day's conditions

The Yachting Malta Ltd EurILCA Masters race went underway this afternoon just off Sliema seafront when the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets managed to fit in two races. The approximate 8 knots of wind, and negligible swell allowed the fleet to fit in two races. Unfortunately after the second race, the wind dropped to 5knots resulting in the fleet return back to its base at the Royal Malta Yacht Club. The ILCA 6 fleet saw Rob Cage (GBR) and Vadim Yahkhinson win a race each, with Cage leading the standings for the day with 3 points. The larger, ILCA 7 fleet saw Christoph Marsano (AUT) and Aristos Chatzistamatiou (GRE) take two wins, however it was Wolfgang Gerz (GER) who matched Marsano’s points tally, both finishing the day with five points each.

The final race of the Spring Gozo Regatta was a passage race back to Malta from Mgarr. It was a downwind start for the seventeen strong fleet, enjoying winds blowing from the west at approximately 10 knots.
