We are enclosing and extending our wheelhouse before winter for protect and so we can move the mainsheet from the top of the aft cabin to above the wheelhouse (better safety and a better sheeting angle). This is the second part of the fabric enclosure and the next prototype frame. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. From the southeast trades to the milk run, through the ITCZ — the doldrums — up through the northeast trades, and then into the westerlies at 35-40 degrees north where it gets serious. Big lows form over Russia, roll across the Pacific, and feed the Aleutian Low in a constant battle with the North Pacific High. Know the system before you go.
